Technical Assistance & Training
Violence Free Colorado is dedicated to empowerment within our community by providing members with the necessary skills and knowledge to support survivors of domestic violence, through expert-led training and technical assistance. Additionally our Online Learning Center (OLC) offers on-demand courses, ensuring continuous learning and development. Membership is open to a diverse range of individuals and organizations, including community advocates, government agencies, healthcare professionals, students, and supportive partners, all united in their dedication to supporting survivors of domestic violence. We also provide the option for Non-members to access OCL for a small fee.
Training
Members receive training that focus on best practices rooted in Accessible, Culturally Responsive, and Trauma Informed care. These trainings often reflect the needs and themes expressed on a community and state wide level. Trainings are done with staff and in collaboration with national experts.
VFC is committed to Language Justice and as a result, most of our trainings are done in multiple languages or different languages upon request.
An anti-violence, anti-oppression framework is woven through all our trainings. We acknowledge survivors’ unique experiences and the ways that domestic violence overlaps with additional forms of oppression.
Technical Assistance
Technical Assistance (TA) includes customized, ongoing support, addressing specific needs or requests from member programs to better support survivors, staff, volunteers, and board members. This collaboration could encompass resource-sharing, cultivating community connections, identifying and addressing challenges, goal setting, and more.
An Accessible, Culturally Responsive and Trauma Informed approach is the foundation to all TA. TA is available for nonmembers at a cost. Please contact us to request Technical Assistance.
Online Learning Center
Our Online Learning Center (OLC) contains on-demand courses to provide participants with self-paced training on domestic violence and connected topics. Coalition membership includes unlimited access to the OLC.
Each course takes about 1.5 – 3 hours to complete. Participants receive a certificate upon successful completion of a course. Contact us with questions about the OLC.

Course Bundle For CFIS and PRES
In 2021, Colorado passed a bill (HB21-1228) requiring 6 initial hours of training on domestic violence (including coercive control and its traumatic effects on children, adults, and families) and 6 hours of training on child abuse and child sexual abuse for Child and Family Investigators (CFIs) and Parental Responsibilities Evaluators (PREs). With an additional, four (4) subsequent hours of training every two (2) years on domestic violence, including coercive control, child abuse, and child sexual abuse, and the traumatic effects on children, adults, and families.
We’ve made six courses (totaling 10 hours) from our OLC available for these court professionals to work toward the domestic violence training requirement:
