DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar because you won’t want to miss the 5K Race Against Domestic Violence on Saturday\, September 15 around MacIntosh Lake in Longmont. In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month\, Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley and LEVI will be co-hosting the annual\, professionally-timed run/walk. Proceeds from your participation in this all-ages family event will directly benefit victims of domestic violence and their families. Entry fees will include snacks and a handsome neck gaitor to commemorate your participation. Run as a team with your family\, colleagues\, classmates\, parent group or solo and join us for a morning of fun while making a difference in the community. Baby strollers welcome.

DESCRIPTION:Safe Shelter’s 2018 symposium will offer significant content for educators\, advocates\, health professionals\, business leaders\, service providers\, the legal and law enforcement sectors and community members. \nThrough multiple sessions and plenaries\, attendees will explore the public health impact of partner abuse on individuals\, families and communities. Content will include: Social determinants that encourage or prevent inter partner violence; physical and mental health consequences over the lifetime; connections of violence to addiction and mental illness; consequences on businesses and productivity; and treatments\, protective factors and tools to make the fabric of our community safer and stronger.
