All of this is happening in the context of a global economic reality where it is increasingly difficult for women to even earn a livable wage. \nThis year\, we are honoring the sacred and valuable work of women around the world\, in all its forms\, by demanding safe\, violence-free workplaces. The money raised by the 2017 Spotlight Campaign will provide support to groups working to eradicate sexual and gender violence in places of work. \nThis year’s donations will benefit Violence Free Colorado and The Crisis Center.

DESCRIPTION:Shimmy Mob is a worldwide event that happens yearly on World Bellydance Day. The event raises funds and awareness for the victims and survivors of domestic violence. This is the 5th year that Denver has had a team. Dancers from all over the world learn one choreographer and on May 13\, 2017 we will all perform that dance in a public space. The Denver team will perform the Shimmy Mob choreography plus multiple group numbers from the various dancers in the mob.

To do this\, we must explore our current methods of coping and develop new tools to reduce the impact and incidence of vicarious trauma. Are the ways in which we cope sustainable enough to allow us to do our job effectively over time? How can we maintain balance in our lives so that we are able address the needs of our clients\, our agency and ourselves? This training will provide a foundation and address these crucial questions.
