What are the factors of longevity in the work and how do we achieve those through Advocacy Essentials?  \nWe know that community-based sexual and domestic violence response advocates change lives and offer transformational partnership with survivors and their children. Join Violence Free Colorado’s Kristiana Huitrón and Jacque Morse as we identify what leaders in the field who joined the work as survivors\, advocates or both\, have to say about the bare essentials for advocacy and how to build staff training and education that serves all parties through empowerment.  \n

DESCRIPTION:Volunteer training is mandatory for all prospective volunteers. The training consists of two parts – interactive classroom and online training\, and “hands-on” training. Classroom training (15-30 hours) covers a broad range of domestic violence related issues. \nFurther training in the specific area in which the volunteer will be working is required to gain a stronger understanding. Hands-on training\, which takes 4 – 8 hours\, is a time when the volunteer works in their position with supportive supervision. Community members interested in learning more about domestic violence and Safe Shelter are welcome to attend dates and topics of their choosing. \nNext Training Dates: \nMonday\, May 16th from 6-9pm \nWednesday\, May 18th from 6-9pm \nMonday\, May 23rd from 6-9pm \nWednesday\, May 25th from 6-9pm
